The Rubber Duck Compression Laboratory exists to measure, with total confidence and zero peer review, exactly how squeezable a given rubber duck is. We are not a toy company. We are not a research institute. We are a laboratory, and we have the badge to prove it.
Every poke is treated as a discrete compression event: localized, measured, and logged to a running Buoyancy Index that has never once gone down. Our hand-built spring simulation ensures the duck always returns to its original shape, a property we refer to internally as structural optimism.
The Buoyancy Index climbs with every poke by an amount our research department selects at the time, based on nothing. It has no ceiling, no formula, and no known relationship to buoyancy. We publish it anyway, in large friendly type, because a number that only goes up is good for morale.
Sustained compression testing above a certain undisclosed volume triggers Flock Certification: a procession of smaller, identical ducks arrives to formally witness the proceedings, and the primary duck begins a slow, dignified rotation befitting its new status. The Index is simply renamed. Nothing about the underlying science changes, because there isn't any.
It doesn't, hydrodynamically speaking. But somewhere around the tenth or eleventh poke, the honk starts to feel earned. That feeling is the entire service. Everything else is paperwork.
